Community College Placement Test Tools

The Virginia Placement Test (VPT) is used at all community colleges in Virginia to make sure you are ready for college level work. Almost all students are required to take the VPT Math and VPT English. Your scores on the VPT will determine which classes you will need to take. You can better prepare for this important test by practicing to strengthen the skills you already know and brush up on the skills you need to work on.

VPT-Math is broken down into nine modules which test your knowledge on the math you need to be successful in college. VPT-English consists of an essay and a 40 question multiple choice. VPT-English integrates reading and writing in the multiple choice questions. Contact a college advisor who can tell you how much English you need to know for your major.

Then follow the steps below:
1) Select Student Registration.
2) Choose VCCS Practice Test Institution from the Institution drop down box.
3) Select VCCS.
4) Enter "Virginiapt" as the password.
5) Fill in all required fields that have a red asterisk.
